I finished another koolhaas this evening but there is not natural light and therefore no photos. You’ll just have to wait until tomorrow. In the interim I give you my latest sock knit from some lovely, stretchy Paton sock yarn I found at Michaels. Sleep well friends and see you tomorrow.

I’m up in Portland, Oregon visiting old friends and haunts and I had the chance to drop in on the Sock Summit yesterday. What a thrill! I bumped into one knitting celebrity, Anne Hanson of Knitspot, at the Verb for Keeping Warm booth but I was too shy to get her photo. She was most gracious nonetheless.

The sock museum was totally exciting for a sock knitting geek like me. I have knit many of the sock patterns that were on display including the Spring Forward socks pictured below. Seeing them reminded me that I’ve been wanting to re-knit that little number for months now. Perhaps I’ll cast on for my next trip.

This gal, known as “sock it to me Susan”, is as crazy about knitting socks as I am…er…used to be.

Going to the Sock Summit inspired me to get knitting on socks again soon. Now if it would only cool off.

This is a great sock pattern but again, requiring more concentration than I’m willing to expend at this time in my life. I feel so lazy! And those charts – you really have to pay attention to the charts. Ah well, it’s summer right? Records show that I started the Nemesis on January 4, 2011 – back in the dead of winter. This sock is knit with the wonderful Sock Summit yarn that my friend, Liz sent me nearly two years ago. I’m going to be heading up to Sock Summit ’11 a little later this summer. I can’t wait to get up to Portland and visit all my old (and young) knitting buddies.

Do you think I can have this sock finished by then? It depends. Can the weather cool down long enough? We shall see.

I’ve started to take stock of my many unfinished knitting projects…well…just for the hell of it I guess. Now that it’s summer, I don’t have an excuse for *not* knitting, unless I blame the weather. These here are Pyroclastic, a free pattern on Knitty and a challenging sock which I used to enjoy. Sigh. Perhaps I will take them to the Sock Summit and that might inspire me to finish them…or not. Don’t worry. I have made copious notes and I know exactly where to resume (unlike some other projects that I will be featuring in the coming days).

However, I have to say, I still love Malabrigo sock yarn. It’s a wonderful fiber for anyone considering socks and the colors are marvelous.

As proof that I still knit socks now and then, I offer these little minis, being modeled here by the big hands of sister Liz. Her friend, Madeline, had a baby girl named Emily about a week ago and these socks are for her. Congrats to mother and baby!

…I am once again knitting socks.

I found this pattern on Knitty and it has certainly re-ignited my passion for sock making. The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts STR in the sock summit color. Thanks to Liz for sending. We still on for SS11?

As for nemeses, well I have several. But let’s not go there now.

I did manage to finish one Pyroclastic sock but I don’t even remember when (it may have been up in Ashland recently). Such is the crazy whirlwind that my life has become. And I fear that I’ll suffer from single sock syndrome if I don’t start the second soon.

There is also another heatwave looming so the weather’s become most un-knitterly…How I long for a nice warm fire and six inches of snow!

Just kidding.

I don’t really but who cares.

I was in Sausalito last week and I checked out a new LYS on my way to the beach. At the Raverly meet up a few months ago, I had won a gift card to Bluebird Yarn & Fiber Crafts and I’m sorry I don’t have any photos to share with you. I didn’t bring my camera – can you believe it? I’m so neurotic about getting sand in my camera, that I don’t bring it to the beach unless I’m with people I really want to photograph.

But I want to let you know that BYFC is a wonderful little shop, definitely worth checking out, with a fabulous selection of fiber – and if you go during the week like I did, you might even find parking.

So I purchased another skein of Noro Kureyon Sock to make another pair of striped socks and also a button. A button which I have yet to affix. But shhhhhhhhhhhhhh….

Nuff said.
