Shrugging. »

Startitis is an affliction of new and old knitters alike and alas, I have succumbed again. I didn’t even get through my inventory of unfinished pieces when there I go and start something new. I actually wanted to make another shrug like the one I had made Ali last year – and I swear that [...]

Unfinished #3: Nemesis. »

This is a great sock pattern but again, requiring more concentration than I’m willing to expend at this time in my life. I feel so lazy! And those charts – you really have to pay attention to the charts. Ah well, it’s summer right? Records show that I started the Nemesis on January 4, 2011 [...]

Unfinished #2: Upstairs Shawl. »

This beauty has been nearly two years in the making and now measures a whopping 54 inches long. Yet I’m loathe to cast off. Like a deliciously good book, I don’t want it to ever end. Ok…so I exaggerate. The Upstairs Shawl pattern is so simple that it’s a genuine pleasure to knit and can [...]

Unfinished projects: The first in a series. »

I’ve started to take stock of my many unfinished knitting projects…well…just for the hell of it I guess. Now that it’s summer, I don’t have an excuse for *not* knitting, unless I blame the weather. These here are Pyroclastic, a free pattern on Knitty and a challenging sock which I used to enjoy. Sigh. Perhaps [...]

Little big sox. »

As proof that I still knit socks now and then, I offer these little minis, being modeled here by the big hands of sister Liz. Her friend, Madeline, had a baby girl named Emily about a week ago and these socks are for her. Congrats to mother and baby!

Finished. »

I finished this little scarf so long ago that I had to look on Ravelry to remember exactly when. My Rav notes show that I finished the Sailing Sea Scarf on Dec. 27, 2010 – Is that even possible?!?!? Here I am thinking to myself that I must have cast off a month or so [...]

My nemesis. »

I found this pattern on Knitty and it has certainly re-ignited my passion for sock making. The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts STR in the sock summit color. Thanks to Liz for sending. We still on for SS11? As for nemeses, well I have several. But let’s not go there now.

Intuitive. »

It’s been bloody cold around here – even for California. Bitter. Luckily I finished this wonderful hat just in time for the freeze. The pattern is called Intuitive and yes it is. Very easy. Very fun to make. As an added bonus it’s also convertible as you can see from the different ways it’s styled [...]

It’s been a slow week. »

Actually it’s been a rather turbulent week full of emotional highs and lows but all I have to show for it is some knit graffiti I sighted in North Berkeley near my favorite pizza spot. I did buy some Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick to knit a cheap version of one of Nancy’s creations. [...]

I ran out of yarn mid-stripe! »

And that NEVER happens.
