Today I’m celebrating three years nicotine free.

crocheted heart

Just a quick note in between jobs to boast about my anniversary. On December 12, 2006 I quit smoking and morphed from a chain smoker into a chain knitter. Thus began my knitting obsession.

To those of you who have tried this, you know how hard it can be but it’s been worth every tear and extra pound. To family, friends, readers, fellow knitters and especially my children, I want to apologize for my mood swings, snarls and temper tantrums. I’m eternally grateful for your continued support. :-)

  4. Congratulations! I know that’s what they say about bad habits: you need to replace them with something positive. You have done that – and then some! The effects of your decision are far-reaching…this loyal reader is glad that you put down the cigarettes and picked up the knitting needles!

  7. Keep on, Chris. It was 5 years mid-November for me. I have been knitting/crocheting for 40 years, so needed another incentive…..which was a heart attack and a week in hospital. still get occasional cravings but managed to fight ‘em off. as with every addiction, the coming off is ”one day at a time”

  8. Congratulations on your 3-yr. anniversary of no nicotine. I quit smoking in OCT 1982 and it was truly THE best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It’s made all the difference in my life. Aren’t you proud of yourself? You really should be. Best wishes.
