Anyone shop Etsy lately?

Purple Cascade 220 yarn

No, the yarn above did not come from Etsy. It came from Webs and is intended for the Monday Morning Cardigan continuing my current obsession with all things purple.

I bring up the subject of Etsy because of an article that ran in today’s NYTimes. It seems that some people are actually making a good deal of money selling their handknits on Etsy (but spending all of their time knitting to do it). My brother’s gf, Maggie, has been after me to sell some of my own handknits and I am definitely considering it. Stay tuned for handknit items to come…probably in the new year.

  1. Hmmm, food for thought! I’ve been thinking the same thing – joining the herd of other spinners selling their yarn on Etsy. But then it’s work!

  2. I’ve considered it as well, but you’d have to have original patterns and also a niche. I’ve thought of selling things made from handspun, but that’s double the work, so maybe not. It’s still an idea that’s percolating!
