I was subbing in a middle school special ed classroom this week and when I happened to pick up my knitting, the kids (all boys who like to hunt and fish) wanted to learn. They told me that they could crochet, but wanted to learn knitting. So, I promised to bring extra needles and yarn the next time I am there. Ya never know! Between you and me, Chris, maybe we can spread the love of knitting to the public school kids in East Bay, CA and Western OR! I enjoyed this post and especially the photos! My first time with "string art" was in first grade when a playground monitor taught us how to finger crochet (sorry Chris, it wasn't you at Close Knit last October - though you were my first knitting teacher that wasn't on YouTube!). I would imagine teaching kids to knit or crochet would require the patience of 10 zen monks. Kudos to you! Oh my goodness. Aren’t they adorable?
