The view from my backyard

The more observant among you may have noticed from the packages I’ve received recently that I live on San Pablo Dam Road. If you travel southeast on SPD Road in the direction of Orinda (and Oakland) you will reach Wildcat Canyon Road. Just before Inspiration Point, which marks the entrance into Tilden Park, the vista provides the magnificent views of San Pablo Reservoir that you see here. While not technically my backyard, it’s just a few miles down the road and a place I travel to often, several times a week. I especially love it at sunset.

These are the hills of my youth and I never grow tired of them.

  1. Beautiful photos, as usual. You are living in my favorite part of the U.S. I love those golden rolling hills and that mossy, shadowy green. It brings back many happy memories and reminds me of how badly I miss the sun.

  3. Okay, *that’s* a backyard! (I miss having mountains in my backyard… the East Coast doesn’t have actual pretty sharp pointy mountains!)

  4. The colors in your photos would be a beautiful basis for either dyeing yarns or for a Fair Isle sweater.

Craftygryphon, east coast mountains are pointy if you go north to the Presidential and Mahoosuc ranges in New Hampshire and Maine. People train in the Presidentials for trips to Antarctica and Everest.

  5. I’m in DC (and live just outside it). If I ever get out to SF again, I’ll take you up on your offer a Knitting Tour!
