Isabella models the Rebecca Shrug

Sometimes model and setting and location and clothes and lighting and color all congeal for the perfect photo shoot. Such was the case with Isabella last Sunday.
What I was going for was a kind of “sun-drenched-washed-out-greek-church” look in grey, overcast El Cerrito and Isabella showed up in the perfect ensemble of black and orange along with her amazing hair and earrings. It was her idea to climb the tree like a monkey – not mine! She didn’t want to even do this shoot, reluctantly agreed and posed for less than 5 minutes.
It’s rare for me to use every frame but that’s what I’ve done here. The shots tell a story of joy and Isabella’s joi-de-vivre really shines through.
As for the shrug itself, well it had some issues towards the end. I had to buy a third skein of Plymouth Homestead and the dye lot didn’t match. Oh and then there was the ktchenering of 90 stitches which was fairly straight forward although some areas show tighter stitches. In the end, it came out rather big…blah blah blah.
So it’s less than perfect. but how could I not give it to Isabella? She’s more of a shrug person than I am anyway and this was such an easy knit that I will probably make it again – with smaller needles.
It actually gives me great joy to give my knits away and to see them worn and loved by another person.

So, what is the last knitted item you kept for yourself? Or should I say when instead of what?

There is indeed something about knitting that makes you want to give the things you make away to almost anyone who loves them! And Isabella is an inspiration! And looks made for your beautiful shrug!

So gorgeous! Wow, that’s lovely! I knitted a shawl for myself last year – when it was freeeezzzing here.
