My second summer of socks, the sequel
Posted on Jul 16, 2009 in sock knitting
Something about the summer makes me want to knit socks, socks and more socks. This time last year I was also deep into sock knitting.

As you can see the traveling socks are growing rapidly and rather than give them to a male in my life, I think I’m going to make knee socks and keep them for myself. I keep trying them on and they feel wonderful! I hope I can find another skein of Yummy by Fibra Natura or purchase from the Yarn Market before they sell out.

If you know of a place here in the Bay Area where I can pick up another skein, please let me know. And if you are a Portland reader, can you see if Close Knit has any left?

As for the Serpentine socks well they had to be ripped back because I had overlooked the even numbered rows which are just straight knitting and weren’t charted (but a good reminder to actually read the instructions rather than just scanning them). I actually made a little change to the pattern and on even numbered rows, I do a k6, p1 in the stitch pattern. Contact me if you find this confusing and I’ll be happy to explain it to you.

The pattern is the third I’m making from the Socks from the Toe-up book by Wendy Johnson and the second I’m making from Colinette Jitterbug “Ginger Cinnabar” which I love, love LOVE! You may recall that I gave the “Child’s first socks” to Vanessa, my Portland hairdresser and also made a cozy and lucky cowl from this lovely yarn.
Actually I’m fibbing. This is my THIRD time using Jitterbug for socks. The first time was last year during my first summer of socks.

Wow, those are great socks! And I love that Yummy yarn! The colors are working up really cool!

I called Close Knit and Nancy set a skein aside for me until I can pick it up and I will mail it to you. Of course now you need to email me your new address.
