My newest project: “Upstairs” Shawl in Artfibers Sylph

"Upstairs" Purple Shawl in Slyph

I had been lusting after this fiber, a sexy blend of silk, superkid mohair and wool called “Sylph” ever since I saw my dear friend Katrina knitting a scarf with it nearly a year ago. The yarn was purchased by another dear friend, Liz Plam, on one of her excursions to Artfibers when it was still in SF. As you know, from an earlier post, Artfibers recently relocated to Pinole and so close to where I now live that I could (and probably should) ride my bike there.

I have joined the knitting group on Wednesday evenings at Artfibers and it’s a terrific group of knitters. Kimberly, who works at K2tog, even blogged about the group and our current WIPs so check it out!

In addition to pining for “Sylph” I’ve also been lusting after purple these days, ever since I saw the ADD Knitter’s recent bad ass purple embossed leaves socks. I wanted to buy more Malabrigo sock (in Violetas Africanas) at K2tog but had to restrain myself.

BTW This shawl, based on a pattern called “Upstairs”, represents my 100th project on Ravelry. Woo-hoo for me! Or maybe more like “Get a life!”

  2. Wow, Chris!
We loved being able to see this shawl started and all of the other great projects that you seem to get FINISHED! This is going to be beautiful and we Wednesday nighters at Artfibers are excited about possibly being the first to see it draped on your body. I’d like to try the stitch pattern, which you said doesn’t take elaborate concentration so one can think and talk about other things. Perfect project to work on at a meet-up! Thanks for picking an Artfibers yarn for the project. We really appreciate every customer and every sale.
    See you soon!
