Swatch me knit my new seamless cardigan

Garter Yoke Card from knit.1 magazine

I’ve been wanting to make this sweater for some time now. It’s the Garter Yoke Cardi (pattern #22) from knit.1 Magazine (Fall/Winter 2008 issue). A completely SEAMLESS sweater which I am particularly looking forward to after the chore of sewing up the Urban Aran Cardigan (which btw is finished – will post photos shortly).

I actually took the time to knit (and wash and block) a swatch. The swatch is a little misshapen because I was practicing a new cast off technique that Jessica taught me to be used with the toe-up socks I’ve been knitting of late.

The yarn is Paton’s Classic Wool Merino which I use a lot but this color – plum heather – was new to me. No more gray for awhile I promise you. And lo and behold I did manage to achieve the called for gauge. Pat me on the back.

There was nothing left to do but cast on and so I did.

The perfect thing to do on a dismal, rainy and gray day like today.

  1. I couldn’t believe the color of your new project…It’s like we are are mentally coordinating our knitting projects:

I love it – the color and the pattern! Can’t wait to see it up close!

  2. What really amazes me about this cardigan is how much better is looks on “real” people. The photo in the magazine is terrible (mainly I’m too busy thinking that the model needs a good feeding, and am unable to focus on the cardigan).
