Can you recommend a pattern for my yummy new sock yarn?

fibra natura yummy yarn #58

I was at Close Knit last night, like I am every Wed night and as I was helping Jessica decide on some colors for her scarf, this particular sock yarn just jumped out at me and screamed “Buy me!.”

Now I’m perplexed. I don’t which sock pattern to knit use or if I should just wing it. I need some kind of stitch pattern to keep me interested (but not tethered to a written pattern). Will an elaborate stitch pattern be lost in the big bright color blocks? How will the colors pool and puddle? I simply can’t bear the thought of knitting a plain old boring plain vanilla sock.

Hmmmm…I get an inkling of how it might knit up here. (it’s color #58)

I’m kind of thinking the Spring Forward Socks which I knit up last summertwice! Both given as gifts.

Oh I don’t know what to do!

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

  1. hey Chris…I think the interest as the colors unfold should keep you entertained (sort of like the noro stripe scarf does) … how-some-ever if that won’t be adequate then a simple perhaps basket weave sort of thing might be interesting enough to knit and not compete with the ever-changing colors…sorry to miss last night..

  2. My kneejerk response to any variegated yarn is “MONKEY!”…but as I scrolled down on your blog I saw you just finished a pair.
Have you heard of Vinnland, from the Anticraft? They’re beautiful socks, based on ribbing, look sort of Nutkin-ish. Depending on how the variegation knits up, they could work in that pattern. Beautiful yarn.
