Another attempt at the Nutkin – this time for spring
Posted on Mar 6, 2009 in sock knitting

Phew! Now that the show is hung and the reception is over, I can return to the fun stuff. This will be my third time with the Nutkin pattern and I think I’m off to a good start. I’ve ditched the fold over cuff because it’s just too much of a laborious time/mind bender for me. If you don’t line the stitches up exactly when you fold the cuff over, the entire sock will twist un-mercilessly. Look what happened the last time I tried it.
After the 2×2 ribbing, the main sock stitch pattern, though it looks complicated, is actually quite easy and flies really fast – for me anyway. I’m loving the color and the yarn which is Pagewood Farm Hand-dyed sock yarn in “Ireland”.
Also finished one sock of the “No-purl Monkey” which has been hibernating for some time now. It’s a variation on the classic “Monkey” pattern by Cookie A. Here’s my “purled” version of the monkey sock.

It feels like spring today although the forecast calls for snow on Sunday. I hope not. Until next time, Happy Weekend everyone!
