Although definitely not my first socks, I present to you A Child’s First Sock (in shell pattern)

I haven’t frogged Nutkin yet, although I plan to, but I did set it aside to start this lovely vintage sock from Nancy Bush’s book, Knitting Vintage Socks. Yes, it’s actually the same yarn as Nutkin – Colinette Jitterbug in Ginger Cinnabar. Initially I had planned to make knee socks but never could find the right pattern. I’m still hunting around for a knee sock pattern with an interesting but simple stitch pattern, so if you come across one, do let me know. (Hint: I like leafy patterns)

And yes, the sock has mistakes which are probably not discernable to the naked (or untrained) eye. I’ve already frogged the heel once and I’m not going to do it again so I’m just going to have to live with them! They certainly don’t bother anyone else but me – the OCD knitter.

  1. That’s beautiful – and the language of knitting still holds many delicious words for me to learn.
